life choices and accountability

This week's reading made me realize that accountability is much more than just saying yes to work or assignments and trying to finish them on time. I am applying this to my life to take better ownership of it. It is a complex skill to master but with practice, I can achieve it. I can think of many scenarios where accountability is not present, work and school.

This skill plays such a big part in everyday life for everyone. Every decision we make is tied to our accountability and responsibility too. Now that I am also learning IT skills I know the accountability will be big because I will be perhaps working with other people and will have to know to hold my own when there are team projects. I learned that accountability has 3 foundations Self-awareness, Self-advocacy, and effective communication. I have been applying 2of those 3 foundations. I need to practice the use of self-awareness more.

learning and practicing saying "no" when asked to do something or join an activity. To me, this will be the first step in order to be more accountable and owning my decisions and life. I think saying "no" sometimes becomes hard because in my experience it makes you become unapproachable or antisocial. But after the reading, I understand now that this skill not only allows me to focus on aspects that will be beneficial to me but also help me understand how some situations and emotions can affect me as a person.

  2. Hi Geovani, I enjoyed reading your post and I certainly agree with you. Accountability and responsibility go hand in hand. Not everyone has it but I feel it's a great quality to have that can help you succeed in life. Just keep in mind self-awareness every time you look in the mirror and you'll get it in no time. Good luck!

  3. Hey Geovani,
I agree. Accountability is not just restricted to school. It is a part of your day to day. also learning how to say "no" can be little challenging at first. You do not want to seem difficult or lazy but, if you can not do something it has to be communicated.
